A Safe Place. Positive Activities. Better Futures.

Ekota Academy provides a safe and supportive space for young people aged 16–18 in Redbridge who may be at risk of antisocial behaviour (ASB), offering structured evening and weekend activities that build confidence, skills, and positive pathways.

What We Offer

Young people can access up to 20 hours per week of free youth activities in a safe environment at the Ekota Hub, Goodmayes Park, including:

Multi-sports sessions
and tournaments

Wellbeing and mental
health workshops

Careers advice and life
skills sessions

Homework support and
digital learning

Arts, music and cultural
activities

All activities are delivered by experienced youth workers, sports coaches, and trusted volunteers.

Why This Project Matters

Many young people in Ilford Town, Loxford, and Valentines have limited access to safe, free activities outside school hours. This programme provides positive alternatives to street-based risk, helping young people:

feel safe

stay engaged in learning

build confidence and life skills

develop trusted relationships with adults

explore education and career pathways

Who Can Join

This project supports young people aged 16–18 living in Redbridge, especially those referred by:

  • schools
  • youth workers
  • social workers
  • community organisations

Young people can also drop in and take part without long-term commitment.

A Safe Space Designed With Young People

Young people help shape the activities delivered each week, ensuring sessions reflect their interests, needs and goals. The programme creates a welcoming environment where participants feel supported, heard and motivated to succeed.

When Activities Run

Sessions take place after school and at weekends, providing consistent support during the times young people need it most:

  • Evenings: 4:00 pm – 7::00pm
  • Weekends: Extended activity sessions
